Green Torque: Dual-Fuel Diesel Engine Slashes Emissions

Dieselspecialists – Green Torque is gaining momentum as researchers push the boundaries of traditional combustion engines. A recent computational fluid dynamics (CFD) study from the University of Modena introduces a dual-fuel diesel engine that utilizes a hydrogen-diesel blend, showing significant environmental and performance benefits. The innovation centers around an intelligent dual-injection strategy that drastically cuts down fuel consumption and harmful emissions without compromising power output.

The heart of the Green Torque approach lies in adapting diesel engines to operate more efficiently by supplementing them with hydrogen. In low-load conditions, only a small pilot diesel injection is used, while in high-load scenarios, the main diesel injection is reduced significantly. This smart modulation results in a remarkable 62.6% reduction in diesel fuel usage. Simultaneously, emissions of carbon dioxide (CO₂) and nitrogen oxides (NOₓ) are cut substantially, making it a promising step toward cleaner transportation.

How Dual-Injection Enhances Efficiency

The breakthrough behind Green Torque lies in its injection timing and fuel blending strategy. Instead of completely overhauling diesel engines, this model works with existing infrastructure, enhancing it with a hybrid hydrogen supply. The dual-injection method enables precise control over combustion dynamics, adjusting to engine load requirements in real time.

According to the Modena research team, the system’s flexibility allows for optimal thermal efficiency while minimizing pollutant output. Hydrogen’s faster combustion characteristics help stabilize ignition and improve energy output per gram of fuel, especially under heavy engine load. It also acts as a clean-burning supplement, effectively diluting the carbon footprint of every kilometer driven.

Toward a Greener Transport Future

The rise of Green Torque signals a pivotal shift in sustainable mobility. Rather than discarding internal combustion altogether, this innovation reimagines it for a cleaner age. As governments and industries strive to meet net-zero targets. Transitional technologies like dual-fuel engines offer a practical bridge particularly in sectors like freight and agriculture. Where full electrification remains challenging.

Green Torque is not just about emissions it’s about enabling smoother adoption of green energy without overburdening existing infrastructure. With continued research and industry support, this hybrid solution may soon be part of the mainstream engine lineup. Powering vehicles with both strength and conscience.
