rough idle & bad fuel mileage
« on: December 30, 2007, 07:27:18 AM »
Hi: I bought a 95 powerstroke in June with 99,000 on it and in extremely nice condition. It is a crew cab with an extended frame and a 19' Hodges car hauler bed on it. It's done fine until Thanksgiving when I went to Daytona for the Turkey Rod Run. I was hauling a 89 Bronco II wich isn't very heavy, and pulling my parts trailer (around 8,000#s the way it was loaded). From N.C. to Fl. it did fine. On the way back I got 117 miles out of each 18 gallon tank of fuel, I have a small shake in the engine at idle, and I can't hear the turbo spool up. I've changed the oil, fuel filter, and cleaned the strainer on th side of the fuel filter bowl. I'm a good mechanic but not very good on diesels that I'm just getting familiar with. Any sensible ideas what the solution would be?

you might have a bad injector or 2 going out! you need to plug in on your truck an pull codes on it?
